Last weekend's RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch did its usual fine job of focusing the nation's attention on the birds with which we share our tiny personal fiefdoms. This past week, the male of our resident Goldcrest pair has become enchantingly showy, singing his little vocal chords off. With nice light and a lazy lunchtime, I took a few photos of him today.Later in the year, one of my monthly columns for The Countryman magazine will star Europe's joint-smallest bird. A couple of these photographs may feature there... but you saw them here first!
