13 February 2018  Slo-mo

It being half-term, and my parents visiting to help with childcare, I (ahem) bunked off work and took Mum, Dad and Maya to see the Minsmere murmuration. We had a long, cold wait, but eventually the Starlings performed - and amazingly too. Most remarkably, they arrived from somewhere over Westleton Walks, did their balletic thang for hundred-plus human admirers then, rather than roosting in the reed beds by North Wall, buzzed off back north to sleep towards Westleton. It was as if they put on the spectacle just for us. This time, I tried something different - working with long exposures to capture the sense of uninhibited movement. Several of the results were nice, and I particularly liked these two.
