The following day we wandered around the Dell at Wells. Despite the ongoing rain, we enjoyed lots of Marsh Helleborine (past their best) and Southern Marsh Orchid.
A week ago was my - well, our - tenth wedding anniversary. So my Lady and I adjourned to Holkham for 24 hours, divested of daughter. What better way to celebrate my Lady with some Ladies? Creeping Lady's Tress has a bizarre range in the UK, occuring in Scotland, Cumbria and... north Norfolk. Seeing 'CLT' was pretty much my first trip out after moving to Norfolk precisely one year ago. So it seemed apt to renew my acquaintance with it - and to introduce to Ladies to Sharon. It transpired that Sharon is far better at spotting these delicate whorls of orchid than I am. She spied nearly all of the 18 flowering plants that we found, 14 of which were further west along the path from the site where I'd seen them last year. I barely took any photos as the rain was heavy and the light poor.
