And finally a wee plug for Ekkeroy Holiday House where we stayed for two nights on Varanger. Really special accommodation with fantastic views. Our sole regret was not trying the seaside sauna...

We had a lovely sunset on the final evening, where sky and sea turned golden-pink.

The weather was largely cloudy with blizzards. On the final evening and morning, clear skies enabled a few pristine shots.

Lapland landscapes

My only previous Arctic trip (Norwegian fjords, Bear Island and Svalbard, as a wildlife guide aboard the now-defunct Polar Star) was in summer. The winter wonderland of Finnmark and Lapland were thus a snowy treat. The winter had been mild prior to our arrival, but we were greeted by 56 cm of snow. Driving was 'an experience'.
